Cookie Recipes: A collection of my best cookie recipes
Cookies and cookie recipes are as American as apple pie. But America doesn’t have a monopoly on cookie traditions. Many cultures throughout the world have deeply imbedded customs in which cookies play a major role. I hope to feature cookie recipes from around the world to give us all the opportunity to expand our horizons through baking.
Trays upon trays of cookies leave my kitchen every year during the holiday season. I have long felt that a gift of something homemade is the most special gift of all. To see someone bite into one of my home made cookies and smile in appreciation is one of my greatest joys. Cookies hold a special place in my heart; they have always been my favorite thing to make in the kitchen. I have fantastic memories of digging through my mom’s recipe box and pulling out all the yummy recipes as a child. I would pour over them deciding which recipe mom and I would make and then spending the day baking with mom. Every child should have memories like that; there is something special about working with a child in the kitchen and creating something wonderful. The best part is sitting down with the child, sharing a plate of fresh home baked cookies over glasses of ice cold milk. Life doesn’t get any better than that. Types of cookies range from the most simple sugar cookie to the most elaborately decorated gingerbread house. Some are chewy and hearty, while others are delicate and melt in your mouth. There are probably hundreds of thousands of cookie recipes out there, and I will do my best to bring you a wide range of recipes to try in your own home.
