Measurement Yields of Dairy and Fats

Bookmark For the Love of Baking.com

Picture of sticks of butter This handy table will give you the measurement yields of dairy and fats. Measurement yields are really important to me when I am in my marathon of baking phases. I need to be as efficient as possible when I am trying to get a lot of baking done in a short period of time. The only way to do this is to plan effectively. I want to be able to make a mega shopping list of all ingredients that I will need and make just one trip to the grocery store. To make a good list you need to know how many units of something you will need in order to get the correct measurement for your recipes. For example I need to know that I will need to buy 3 pounds of butter in order to get the 6 cups that I will need for all of the cookie recipes that I will be making.

Ingredient Unit= Yield
Butter or Margarine1 pound=2 cups or 4 sticks
Butter or Margarine1 stick=8 Tbs
Cheese, Cottage1 pound=2 cups
Cheese, Shredded4 ounces=1 cup
Cream Cheese8 ounces=16 Tbs

Frozen Whipped Topping8 ounces=3-1/2 cups
Shortening1 pound=2 cups
