Onion Dinner Rolls Recipe

This Onion Dinner Rolls Recipe is one that I haven't used in a few years; I don't know why, I just got out
of the habit. When we were first married, I would make this often to accompany all sorts of dishes. My husband
loves them and would often ask for them. These onion rolls go well with just about any dinner; chilis, stews, roasted meat or
that holiday turkey or ham. I threw them together this morning in just a couple of minutes. They will thaw
and rise most of the day, and then we will enjoy them with our turkey dinner. The use of frozen dough balls
make these super simple to prepare, you just need to remember that they will need time to rise.
12 frozen dinner roll dough balls
6 Tbs. unsalted butter, melted and cooled
1 onion soup mix packet
1/3 cup grated parmesan cheese
Break up the onion soup mix with your fingers before opening the packet. You want to break the onion pieces into smaller pieces and also break up any clumps of seasoning. In a shallow bowl combine the onion soup mix and the parmesan cheese; toss well together. Pour the cooled melted butter into another shallow bowl. Roll each dough ball in the melted butter and then into the soup mix/parmesan mixture; you may need to press the mixture onto the balls. Line up the balls in 4 rows of three in a 13 x 9 inch baking pan .
Cover the pan with plastic wrap and set aside in a place free from drafts to rise until approximately double in size; typically 4-6 hours depending on the temperature of your kitchen. To make these ahead, you may allow them to rise in the refrigerator overnight. Just be sure to take them out to come to room temperature and rise a little more, approximately 1-2 hours before baking.
Remove the plastic wrap and bake in a preheated 350 degree F. oven for 15-20 minutes. Allow to cool slightly and serve warm.
